2015 Jules Taylor Chardonnay, New Zealand

2015 Jules Taylor Chardonnay, New Zealand

Best Buy! - Michael Cooper

89 Points! - Bob Campbell

This fragrant chardonnay exhibits stonefruit and butterscotch aromas layered over spicy notes with a hint of smoky oak. The partial wild and malolactic fermentations along with the extended lees maturation in barrel have added complexity and texture to the wine. The palate is smooth and round with lovely balance of minerality and well refined acid. (usual retail $22)

The fruit for this wine was grown in the Brancott Valley and Taylor Pass sub regions of Marlborough, New Zealand. It was harvested by hand and machine, then taken to the winery. The fruit was whole cluster pressed and put directly into French oak barrels for indigenous ferment on light solids. The yeast lees in the barrels were stirred regularly over a nine month period to add weight and texture and the wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation. After its time in barrel and making friends with itself, the different fruit parcels were pumped back into tank and the resultant wine was bottled.

2013 Windrun Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

2013 Windrun Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

95 Points, Gold Medal, Cellar Selection - Tastings .com

Nose and Palate: "It exhibits classic blackberry fruit aromatics that blend with a bit of brown spice and a hint of smoke and minerality. Flavors showcase an excellent dark berry character with hints of earth tones. A full-bodied palate with a long, savory finish makes it the perfect complement to hearty meat and game dishes."

Description: Santa Rita Hills is a world-renowned appellation at the western end of the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County that has earned acclaim for its Pinot Noir. Warm days and cool, foggy nights provide ideal growing conditions for this varietal. This complex wine reflects the rich, concentrated 2013 harvest.

Composition: A blend of 5 clones from the Lafond Vineyard (Pommard, 115, 777, 828, and 667), the juice was 100% de-stemmed and fermented in open top tanks. The wine was aged in neutral 500 liter puncheons for 10 months and completed malolactic fermentation in the barrel. (usual retail $30)

91Points! - James Suckling

"Generous flavors of blackcurrants, plum, Asian spice, licorice and earth jump from the glass as well as the flavors of this full-bodied, supple-textured, low-acid and fleshy wine. It is delicious now." - Robert Parker

Priest Ranch is a historic Napa Valley property established in 1869 by James Joshua Priest, a Gold Rush prospector. In 2006, we established Priest Ranch wines to pay tribute to the history of the property and Napa Valley. Produced from the historic Priest Ranch, our wines showcase the diversity of the terroir and elevations of our vineyards. Our source produces "fruit so distinctive that it requires only minimal processing, which ensures that its robust mountain flavors shine through as intensely rich, yet beautifully integrated and very approachable in the wines”. - Craig Becker

Priest Ranch embodies the essence of Napa Valley, from the trailblazing mindset of its establishing pioneers to today’s spirit of epicurean and agricultural excellence. Inspired by adventurous pioneers like James Joshua Priest and others who have helped shape the Napa Valley we call home, Priest Ranch is dedicated to producing estate-farmed wines of uncommon quality and character.
