2014 Sebastiani Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Sebastiani’s first century in Sonoma winemaking began when Samuele emigrated from the Tuscany region of Italy in 1895. Mark Lyon, Sebastiani’s winemaker, has overseen the replanting of the estate vineyards, matching clones, rootstocks, and farming protocols to the terroir. Yields are limited for optimal wine grape quality.

The 2014 is medium to dark garnet in color. It is has fruit forward aromas of dark cherry and plum sauce, with forest floor and oriental spice. The palate is medium to full bodied, with juicy, cherry fruit. It finishes with soft tannins and lingering flavors of plum sauce and earthiness. It is more fruit forward, with darker cherry flavors than in the past, owing to a warmer vintage.

2014 was a fantastic vintage producing riper, high quality fruit. The vintage started out with a dry winter and spring, which caused early bud break. Set was completed by mid-May and therefore earlier ripening. Summer, however, was moderate with some fog, leading to normal berry size. August was still foggy, but September was warm, and thus presented riper Pinot grapes. (usual retail: $19)

2011 Seghesio “Venom” Sangiovese

In 1934, the year after Prohibition was repealed, patriarch Edoardo Seghesio died, leaving Angela and their children to rebuild without him. They had their original 1895 vineyard at Home Ranch, but to increase production, Angela met with growers, sampling grapes and telling them exactly when to pick. This way, she identified the ranches with the best soils and, when they became available, bought them: Cloverdale in 1936, River Ranch in 1942, Cortina in 1957, Lone Oak in 1960 and Keyhole in 1962. Under Ted’s guidance, Seghesio bought Montafi Ranch in 2014.

A venerable clone with classic Tuscan qualities and perfect balance. Aromas of black cherry and graham cracker crust are followed by hints of violet and rose petals. This wine has a smooth, round entry on the palate and a silky texture with notes of spice and dried herbs. Minerally quartz and earthy undertones that define Rattlesnake Hill.

Growing and producing world-class Sangiovese is not for the faint of heart. Rattlesnakes, thistle and America’s most unique clone of Sangiovese are all that thrive atop Rattlesnake Hill on our Home Ranch. The 40% slope, shallow topsoil and virtually impenetrable volcanic shale are the perfect antidote for taming this vigorous varietal into producing intensely flavored grapes. This wine is 100% Sangiovese from Rattlesnake Hill on Seghesio's Home Ranch estate in Alexander Valley. (usual retail $54)

2012 Moshin Russian River Valley Chardonnay

Moshin Vineyards and Winery began in 1989 with the Moshin Family’s purchase of a 10-acre Pinot Noir Vineyard located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, California. The Moshin Vineyards of today features a unique 4-tier Gravity Flow Winery and control of 28 acres of grapes – mostly Pinot Noir.Their goal is to carefully guide the grapes through the winemaking process and bring you a wine that expresses a truthful view into the heart of the vine. Their farming methods are sustainable, winemaking philosophy is “minimally invasive,” and they have established energy-saving practices through the use of gravity-flow and solar energy.

Tropical fruit and apple nose, flavors of lemon peel, minerals and a

Don't let the name “Road to Singapore” fool you--this is all-American wine from the heart of Sonoma, continuing the legacy of the historic Brookside Winery family that has been making wine in the area for over 180 years. Exploding with incredible plum flavors lends this Knight’s Valley Zinfandel blend as the perfect wine for all occasions. Aromas of ripe black cherry, black currants and brandied soaked plums, with a subtle hint of holiday spice, cinnamon and black pepper.

We can't wait to see the scores for this vintage--the last vintage was awarded 98 Points, "Best in Class", and Double Gold from the 2015 California State Commercial Wine Competition. The average age of the Zinfandel and Cabernet vines sourced for this blend are over 40 years old.
The "principle of complementary flavors" in food & wine pairing suggests food and wine with similar flavor characteristics make a perfect partnership.
