2014 Klinker Brick Farrah Syrah

2014 Klinker Brick Farrah Syrah

90 Points! - Wine Enthusiast

Double Gold! - 2017 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition

Double Gold! - American Fine Wine Competition

The 2014 Syrah exhibits aromas of ripe plum, cacao, and smoky oak with subtle earthy and floral notes. The palate is greeted with bright and vibrant flavors of blackberry, anise and exotic spices. Supple tannins and superb balance lend structure to this full-bodied Syrah with a long, lingering finish. Enjoy with grilled meats or mushroom risotto. (usual retail $20)

Great wine begins with a suitable climate and soil, both of which are found in Lodi. Sandy loam soil coupled with the hot, cold exchange that graces Lodi from day to night creates a utopian environment to cultivate warm-weather varietals including zinfandel, cabernet and syrah.

The Felten family own and manage fifteen individual vineyard blocks of “Old Vine” Zinfandel that range in age from 40 to 120 years old. In 2000, Steve and Lori produced their first vintage of Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel. They produced their first vintage of Farrah Syrah in 2001. The Farrah Syrah has won 26 gold medals or 90+ point scores since the syrah's debut.

2011 Buttonwood Cabernet Sauvignon

2011 Buttonwood Cabernet Sauvignon

90 Points! - Wine Enthusiast

“Rich and robust, well-structured and spicy with dark fruit character. A swirl releases classic savory aromas of sage, anise, tobacco leaf and currants, interspersed with vanilla bean and graphite. Fine-grained tannins, bright boysenberry-like acidity and a spicy palate of raspberry, blackberry and light cocoa merge with lingering reminders of blackcurrant and sandalwood.” (usual retail $26)

Buttonwood Farm is set amidst the splendor of Santa Barbara County’s Santa Ynez Valley. Founder Betty Williams was always ahead of her time, establishing her farm in the ‘6os based on good practices for people, animals and the earth. Organic vegetables came first, then an estate vineyard of 39-acre vineyard on a sun-drenched mesa in the Santa Ynez Valley. The tasting room is surrounded by other bounty from the farm, including olives, pomegranates, peonies, herbs, summer vegetables and of course, their famous peaches!

2013 Gerard Bertrand Cap Insula

2013 Gerard Bertrand Cap Insula

90 Points! - Wine Enthusiast

Pressed carnation and violet lead the bouquet of this red blend, surrounded by notes of raw fennel, licorice root, cassis, boysenberry and black plum. It's a rich and ripe selection, but well balanced, with medium, gripping tannins that frame the lush black-fruit flavors. Hints of black tea and baking spice linger on the finish. (usual retail $25)

Gérard Bertrand has made a strong, voluntary commitment to sustainable development, responding to the growing demand from consumers as well as the global need to reduce the adverse effects of greenhouse gases on the climate. They adhere to responsible agricultural specifications and organic farming standards.

2012 Vinoce Mt. Veeder Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley

2012 Vinoce Mt. Veeder Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley

Gold Medal! - American Wine Awards

This single-vineyard cabernet franc is crafted from carefully selected blocks of grapes to yield an intense, deeply colored wine with concentrated aromas and flavors. The wine is characterized by rich fruit flavors, a fine silky texture and ripe approachable tannins structured for aging. The 2012 vintage made for a higher degree of natural acidity present on the palate, making the wines more racy in their youth and giving us the luxury of a long evolution in the bottle. Characteristic red fruits light up the front palate; red raspberries and bing cherries start the experience and the wine stays focused through the mid palate and very gracefully moves to the back palate where dark cherry notes highlight the plum, currant and cassis notes of the vineyard. 85% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot (usual retail $75)

Vinoce is a small, family-owned winery owned by Brian and Lori Nuss. Over the last 30 years they have developed an intimate knowledge of growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc on the rugged, hillside slopes of Mount Veeder in Napa Valley. Brian and Lori are dedicated to creating wines that reflect the true expression of the Mount Veeder appellation.
