2013 Stewart Cellars “Nomad”, Napa Valley
94 Points! - Wine Spectator
94 Points! - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"A rich, powerful yet elegant and graceful effort that delivers a tight beam of red and dark berry fruit notes amid cedary oak, dusty crushed rock and earth flavors and textures. Ends up like chewing on a basket of fruit and pebbles. Drink now through 2030." - Wine Spectator
"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Nomad hits the palate with a melange of exotic dark stone fruits, plums, mocha, spices and leather. Sweet, powerful and intense, this full-throttle Cabernet offers superb intensity and textural richness. There is not much left to the imagination in a super-expressive Cabernet that will please readers who like racy, seamless wines." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Stewart Cellars is a small family owned and operated premium producer. Their focus has been on two wines each year, a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley as well as a Pinot Noir from the Russian River region in neighboring Sonoma County. Their Slingshot wines are priced extremely affordably (by Napa standards) and for their quality are great buys. (usual retail $185)
2011 Tenuta di Nozzole “Il Pareto”, Tuscany, Italy

This wine’s classic Cabernet aromas and flavors of cassis and black fruits have intriguing dried herb and spice notes. On the palate, jammy fruit leads to firm, noble tannins before a long finish.
Located north of the village of Greve in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, the Nozzole estate covers a striking, rugged, mountainous area of about 1,000 acres, a third of which is vines and olive groves. At 350 meters in elevation, the 10-acre Il Pareto vineyard has clay soil with lime and gravel-size stones. The soil composition is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, with a high proportion of galestro rock. Il Pareto grapes are manually harvested, destemmed and crushed before fermentation and malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration on the lees promotes the extraction of optimal color and fine, structured tannins. The wine is aged in oak and in bottle before release. (usual retail $80)
100% Cabernet Sauvignon in the Super Tuscan style. Matured for 16 months in oak barrels for increased complexity
2015 Tensley Colson Canyon, Santa Barbara

“The 2015 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard is structured and inward, with huge tannins that will need time to soften. Bright red fruit, menthol, licorice and pine are starting to open up, but the 2015 is in no mood to show all of its cards today. Readers should expect to cellar it for at least a few years” - Vinous
“Highly Recommended” There's plenty of power and torque in this inky red, with aromas of ripe blueberry, tar and licorice opening to complex flavors of smoky plum and peppered beef. The tannins are big but refined. Drink now through 2027.” - Wine Spectator
Winery: As many of our customers know, this year a long-held dream came true for us when we bought Colson Canyon Vineyard. Colson has been part of the Tensley line-up since 2000 and has been a real star for us, making Food and Wine’s Top Ten Syrah’s in America as well as twice making The Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list. This rugged vineyard always delivers some of darkest, most extracted wines we produce. After three years of drought, the 2015 vintage gave us that big extraction and then some. Look for notes of black plums and blackberries as well as vanilla, black and white pepper and smoked meats. This Colson is drinking well now but will continue to age nicely over the next 10 to 12 years. (usual retail $42)
2010 Lagar de Bezana Limited Edition Syrah, Rapel Valley, Chile
92 Points! - Wine Enthusiast
92 Points! - Wine Spectator
“Spice cake, licorice and dark mocha notes follow through to a rich palate of kirsch, plum sauce and grilled herb notes, all backed by full yet well-integrated tannins. Flashy, displaying a long, fruit- and spice-filled finish.” - Wine Spectator
With complex aromas of cedar, tobacco, tree bark, herbs and blackberry, this lush, tightly packed Syrah gets off to a fine start. A mouthfilling palate with baked but controlled flavors of boysenberry, leather and chocolate finishes long, minty and with classy herb flavors. For a modern, oaky Syrah, this is excellent. - Wine Enthusiast

2012 Roco Marsh Estate, Willamette Valley, Oregon

91 Points! - Stephen Tanzer
90 Points! - Wine Spectator
Dark cherry in color. Seductive Trade Route spices, fresh black cherry, and home canned plum with a tiny whiff of vanilla, toasted almonds, and sweet cooked apple. Robust blast of deep black cherry fruit in the center palate. Rounds out with lovely silky tannins and long, bold, sweet flavors. Ripe plum with a deliciously creamy finish and a hint of chocolate-mint. This wine delivers on its promise of silky opulence from the beginning to end.
"Dark and burled, this wine’s initial intensity may lead you to expect something brooding. But with air and a little time the wine opens up, as if a breeze has passed through it, lightening it to raspberry flavors and a kiss of oak that guide the wine to the finish." - Wine & Spirits
"Taut, spicy and distinctive, with atypical apricot and pear overtones and a light layer of gravelly tannins underlying a core of black cherry and smoke flavors. Has depth; needs cellaring to harmonize." - Wine Spectator (usual retail $55)
2013 Louis Jadot “Clos du Roy” Marsannay, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France
91 Points! - NatalieMacLean.com
88-90 Points! - Allen Meadows, Burghound
91 Points! - - Wine Advocate
"The 2013 Marsannay Clos du Roy (under the Domaine Gagey label) has more fruit intensity on the nose compared to the Village cru with mulberry, dark plum and raspberry aromas, all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin structure, well-judged acidity and a lush raspberry and wild-strawberry finish with just sprinkle of spice. Excellent.” - Wine Advocate
In Burgundy's Côte d'Or, where the integrity of the producer is often more important than a renowned appellation or vineyard, Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most trusted and revered wine houses. Jadot's esteemed winemaker, Jacques Lardière, and his team have maintained a balance of tradition and technology in winemaking. This allows Jadot's wines to express the subtle differences between terroirs that are the essence of fine Burgundy.
Founded in 1859, the house has grown through a long-term policy of acquisition or management of exceptional vineyard lands, and now owns 528 acres of vineyards, including 280 acres of the Cote d'Or's most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots. (usual retail $40)
