2013 Domaine Badoz Trousseau

Gold Medal! - Concours des Vins du Jura 2016

Trousseau is a dark-skinned wine grape indigenous to Cotes du Jura in northeastern France with a deep cherry-red color and flavors redolent of dark red berries and other forest fruits. Known as Bastardo in Portugal and Verdejo Negro in Spain. Supple texture, medium dark color and body, and bright flavors of blue-plums, dark cherries with notes of pepper and minerals.

Domaine Badoz is located in the town of Poligny, Jura, dating back to 1659. Winemaker Benoit Badoz represents the 10th generation of vintners at their 10-hectare family domaine. Their collection is distinguished for the clarity, precision, and vivid expression of the Jura grape varieties. (usual retail $27)

2012 Mas Carlot Les Enfants Terribles

2012 Mas Carlot Les Enfants Terribles

91 Points! - Robert Parker

A special cuvée of 60% mourvedre and 40% syrah.

"It smells of cassis, black raspberry preserves, and rare, grilled beef. While intensely fruited, this dense, mouth-filling cuvee displays no superficial sense of sweetness, but rather a great purity; subtle but insistent fruit skin tartness; along with concentrations of juniper, mint, fennel and sage. Deep toasted nut and red meat notes well-up and crest with the wave of herbal and black fruit concentrates in a superb finish that betrays not a hint of its alcohol as heat." - Robert Parker (usual retail $17)

2012 Chateau Segure Fitou

2012 Chateau Segure Fitou

Silver Medal! - Berlin Wine Trophy--Germany's top rating competition

89 Points! - from 3 Independent Sommeliers: Monique Sosa, Jon Steeves, and Douglas McMillan

Red Rhone blend from Languedoc/Roussillon of 40% grenache, 40% carignan, 20% syrah. A beautiful garnet color, it is distinguished by its power and its concentration. It reveals a nose of great complexity with notes of red fruit, spices and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is very bold, full-bodied and harmonious; the tannic structure is potent without being aggressive. Elegant on the finish with nice length.

The Mont Tauch co-operative has acquired an international reputation, especially for its great powerful and structured red wines AOP Fitou and Corbières.
