34% Syrah, 46% Cab Sauv, 20% Zin

The three varietals combine to create an extremely dark purple wine with a nose filled with plum, black cherry and pepper.  The brighter Zinfandel fruit fills the upfront flavor while the ample blackberry, cocoa and earth of the Syrah and Cabernet take over the mid-palate.  The young chalky tannins of the finish indicate a wine of more sophistication and age worthiness than the name would lead you to believe.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
2014 was an ideal vintage for producing blended wine such as the Main Squeeze. The long, warm ripening season allowed each varietal to come to complete maturity. Each of the 3 varietals was able to fully express its individual strengths that so well complement each other. The dry conditions lead to increased concentration and density in the final wine. The Main Squeeze combines fruit from four vineyards. The Cabernet comes from the McCall Vineyard planted in 1983. The Zinfandel is from Castoro Vineyards. The Syrah comes from the Sea Shell Vineyard on the banks of Heuro Heuro river in Paso Robles.
Winemaker Notes
The Main Squeeze is a bringing together of our region’s three most highly planted red varietals and a great example of how the Paso Robles area can produce such wonderful and different fruit. The wines were fermented in 2.5 ton open top tanks with a mixed routine of punch downs and pump-overs depending on sensory evaluation of the ferment. They were then pressed between 19 and 26 days on the skins. Upon completion of malo-lactic fermentation, the wines were racked together into a single blend, and aged in 15% new American and 85% neutral French and American oak for 18 months.
