Santa Barbara Vintners' Celebration of Harvest
The Santa Barbara Celebration of Harvest turned 21 last weekend under sunny skies at Rancho Sisquoc. Held by the Santa Barbara Vintners' Association, it features the bounty of our local viticulture from the newest AVA, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara on the eastern side of Santa Barbara County, the Santa Maria Valley AVA to the north, Santa Ynez Valley AVA to the south and the western Sta. Rita Hills.
Live music and friendly people helped make the day enjoyable as attendees sipped a wide range of wines from the 100+ Association member wineries. From the silky Cabernet Sauvignon of Happy Canyon's Grassini Family Vineyards to the flavor-packed dry Rosé of Syrah of Santa Ynez Valley's Buttonwood Family Winery, the wines had plenty of gourmet food to pair with them, with dozens of restaurants and caterers providing free samples of their cuisine. Full of Life Flatbread in Los Alamos has been receiving a lot of recognition in magazines recently, and for good reason. They brought their portable wood-burning oven to bake their crispy offerings.
Touring & Tasting was on hand to give out free magazines and free wine totes, which were a great hit! In the photo: Wine Club Manager Adam Priddy and Partner and President Paul Arganbright. Working the booth, I missed out on tasting the Viognier, Syrah, and Rhône blends of Carina Cellars, Fess Parker Winery's highly rated Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Viognier, the wide range of Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards' portfolio of wines and the classic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Sanford Winery & Vineyards, among the many wines available for tasting. They are on my list for next year!
