California Restaurant Month: Root 246

Just across the road from California’s very own Danish town of Solvang, lies restaurant Root 246 in the Hotel Corque. Unlike the Danish-inspired structures of quaint Solvang, Root 246 is all about chic contemporary design and has a menu to match. An excellent wine list featuring local Santa Barbara Country wines and a selection of gourmet cocktails, making a decision on just one drink proves to be very difficult. Luckily when it comes to the food, guests can choose from many different starters, cheese plates, soups, salads, pastas, seafood, meats and, of course, desserts.

Everything from the light fixtures to the meals is crisp, clean and contemporary. Start off your meal with a Maytag blue cheese soufflé, heirloom beet gnocchi, or prime oak fired rib eye. The fresh selections are a nice break from the heavy, traditional Danish dishes of the town, making Root 246 a must-stop restaurant for any Solvang visitor.
